The Port Aransas ISD Board of Trustees has called a bond election to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with early voting beginning in mid-April.
Voters will consider three separate propositions totaling $8.215 million, with no anticipated increase to the current tax rate.
Proposition 1 – General Improvements ($4.19 Million)
Academic & Instructional Improvements
- Furnishing expanded BMS career labs
- Updating the PAHS chemistry lab
- Installing an OES library dehumidifier
- Repurposing the OES dining area
- Repurposing the PAHS upstairs dining area
- Installing new playground equipment at OES
- Providing library books and resources at all three schools
- Providing instructional materials and resources at all three schools
- Painting and updating the board room / administration building interior
Facilities Infrastructure Improvements
- Extending the useful life of fixed assets
- Refinishing gym floors (BMS & PAHS)
- Upgrading the OES gutter system
- Replacing the PAHS sign
- Adding parking for the Cole Center
- Refinishing stairs and landing at PAHS
- Repairing leaks at the high school
- Repairing leaks at the OES ACE building
- Completing spaulding repairs districtwide
- Upgrading PAHS elevator
- Adding lockers at BMS
- Upgrading instructional furniture
Proposition 2 – Athletic & Recreational Facilities Improvements ($2.85 Million)
- Installing turf on the baseball field and completing related improvements
- Upgrading lights at the softball field
- Repairing the softball press box
- Replacing the baseball field scoreboard
Proposition 3 – Technology Replacements & Upgrades ($1.175 Million)
(All according to replacement schedules outlined in the district’s five-year technology plan.)
- Replacing classroom interactive displays
- Replacing student and staff iPads/Chromebooks
- Replacing office workstations
- Upgrading networking and security infrastructure
In the weeks leading up to the election, the district will share more detailed information about the bond election. Our goal is to provide clear, factual information so our community can make an informed decision.
Bond elections reflect a core principle of our democracy—local voters determine how taxpayer-supported funding is used to support public schools and community priorities. We encourage all eligible voters to stay informed and participate in the election process.
